The official trailer for the Netflix limited series All the Light We Cannot See offers audiences a deeper glimpse into the World War II drama, which is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name.
Directed and executive produced by Shawn Levy and written by Steven Knight, known for his work on Peaky Blinders, the series stars acclaimed actors Mark Ruffalo, Aria Mia Loberti, Louis Hofmann, Hugh Laurie, and Lars Eidinger, among others.
Set over the course of four episodes, the story follows Marie-Laure Loberti, a blind French girl, and her father Daniel Ruffalo, as they flee German-occupied Paris with a valuable diamond, aiming to protect it from falling into the hands of the Nazis.
Seeking refuge in the coastal city of St. Malo, alongside their reclusive uncle, portrayed by Laurie, they become part of the resistance movement broadcasting radio shows against the Nazis. Marie-Laure joins in the broadcasts and crosses paths with young Werner Hofmann, a teenager enlisted by Hitler to locate the mysterious broadcasters.
The trailer begins with Marie-Laure’s powerful words: “Ladies and gentlemen, before I begin my broadcast today, I have something to say. In this time of darkness, of fading cities, I’m trying to remember… Light lasts forever, darkness lasts not even for one second when you turn on the light.”
Despite the risks involved in broadcasting, Marie-Laure refuses to be silenced, even in the face of danger. The trailer, which follows an earlier teaser released in April, gives viewers a taste of the series’ compelling storyline and introduces key characters.
All The Light We Cannot See made its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September and is set to be released on Netflix on November 2nd.
