Wattpad Webtoon Studios is working on adapting the popular sci-fi web novel, Hawk, by Mike Booth.
The studio has enlisted Christopher Yost, known for his work on Marvel Comics and projects like Disney’s Thor Ragnarok and The Mandalorian, to write the animated series. The project will be executive produced by Aron Levitz, David Madden, Taylor Grant, and Sydney Bright for Webtoon.
The story of Hawk follows the thrilling adventures of space bounty hunter Kas Balera. When a catastrophic event rocks the entire solar system, Balera must team up with a stolen federal robot, a child genius, and her reliable ship, the Calista, to save the galaxy from total destruction.
With over one million reads on Wattpad, Booth’s Hawk captures everything that makes sci-fi great. In a statement, Yost shared his excitement, saying, “Mike Booth’s Hawk is everything I love in sci-fi — it’s action, adventure, mystery and intrigue, mind-blowing new worlds, aliens and tech, all wrapped around great characters, a found family and a future that’s worth fighting for.”
Yost is widely recognized as the co-creator of the character X-23 in Logan, and has an extensive background in animation. He has worked on successful projects such as Star Wars Rebels, Cowboy Bebop, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Additionally, he is set to return to comics this fall with Unnatural Order, a supernatural sci-fi title that has already become Vault Comics’ best-selling comic based on preorders.
