Kevin Costner’s ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ Sets Release Dates

Kevin Costner’s highly anticipated next western epic, Horizon: An American Saga, is set to hit theatres next summer. Warner Bros has announced that the first chapter of the saga will be released on June 28, 2024, followed by the second chapter on August 16, 2024.

Costner, who has been embroiled in divorce proceedings, revealed in court documents that he contributed at least $20 million to the budget of the saga, which is planned to span four films.

Production on the third chapter had to be put on hold due to ongoing conflicts, but the filming for the first two films has been completed, with the second wrapping up this summer. Despite financial concerns expressed by his accountant, Costner remains committed to the project, even mortgaging his property in Santa Barbara.

The attention on Horizon has also impacted Costner’s involvement in the hit drama Yellowstone produced by Paramount. He has become less available for the show, which has caused tension between him and the production team.

However, it remains uncertain if Costner will return to finish his character’s storyline when Yellowstone resumes for the second half of its fifth season. Paramount has announced that the remaining episodes will conclude the series and transition to a new Yellowstone universe title, potentially featuring Matthew McConaughey.

In Horizon: An American Saga, Costner takes on the role of director and also stars alongside an impressive cast that includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jeff Fahey, Will Patton, Tatanka Means, Owen Crow Shoe, Ella Hunt, and Jamie Campbell Bower.

The film returns to the Western genre for Costner, who previously won an Oscar for directing Dances with Wolves over 30 years ago. Produced by Costner, Howard Kaplan, and Mark Gillard, Horizon: An American Saga is highly anticipated by fans of the genre and loyal followers of Costner’s work.
