Wheel of Time Showrunner Surprises NYCC with Season 3 Teasers

While promoting The Wheel of Time at the New York Comic Con this weekend, executive producer Marigo Kehoe, VFX supervisor Andy Scrase, and VFX producer Brian Shows were actively engaged in conversation regarding the Prime Video show. However, unexpectedly, showrunner Rafe Judkins made a surprise entry to conclude the panel.

During his appearance, he shared exciting news about the direction of The Wheel of Time Season 3. Judkins revealed that the upcoming season would predominantly center around the narratives from Book Four, with some elements borrowed from Book Five. Additionally, he hinted at the introduction of more Forsaken characters, as well as the exploration of Dreamwalking – the ability to get into others’ dreams.

“We really felt like the Forsaken are such an incredible part of the books, and we wanted to bring them to the forefront in season two, earlier than they really are forefronted in the books,” he expressed. “I’ve seen some very serious commentary online about the Forsaken and who may not be in the show, but I can confirm that we have cast and put that set [of] Forsaken you have not seen in the show as of yet.”

He continued, “One of the other cool things that we get to explore is the culture of these incredible warriors in The Wheel of Time world. We get to go really meet them and see them go to where they’re from. We also get to explore with some of our characters the world of dreams and dreamwalking, and I think that’s a really cool thing to get to do in season three because it is one of those unique elements in Wheel of Time that no other book series really has. So we really explore that world and season three.”

Judkins also assured fans that they would not only revisit the familiar Two Rivers but also venture into beloved yet previously unexplored cities on screen, including Tanchico and Rhuidean.

This season’s journey would extend into the mysterious Aiel Waste, delving deep into Aiel culture and shedding light on the intricate politics of the Aes Sedai within the White Tower. Furthermore, he promised fresh variations of channeling from different cultures and the highly anticipated introduction of the renowned Sea Folk, a seafaring people renowned for their trade expertise.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 is available on Prime Video.
