The Righteous Gemstones star Jennifer Nettles has joined David Gordon Green’s The Exorcist production when it resumes on HBO MAX
The new film will include Nettles in a ‘major role.’
For Universal, Blumhouse, and Morgan Creek, Gordon Green is helming a brand-new sequel to The Exorcist that will pave the way for a future trilogy. Leslie Odom Jr. and Ellen Burstyn will feature in the first movie of the trilogy, which will hit channels on October 13, 2023. Burstyn will return to the character of Chris MacNeil from the original 1973 film.
Odom Jr. will portray the father of a child who is possessed, according to the first story elements that were revealed to us last year. In search of assistance, he locates Ms. Burstyn’s persona.
The cast of this year’s sequel also includes Ann Dowd (Hereditary), Lidya Jewett (Netflix’s Nightbooks), Raphael Sbarge (Gaslit), and newbie Olivia Marcum.
The Exorcist became a short-lived television series at Fox, which was surprisingly excellent and cleverly took place in the same world as the original classic.
