SkyShowtime, the European streaming joint venture between Sky owner Comcast and Showtime owner Paramount Global, has announced the appointment of Hristina Georgieva, former Disney executive, as its Chief Business Officer.
Georgieva will be responsible for distribution issues, partnerships, and business-to-business revenue. She brings extensive experience in deal-making and expanding distribution, having worked at Disney, Fox Networks Group, and Discovery. CEO Monty Sarhan expressed confidence in Georgieva’s ability to lead the distribution and partnerships function, driving SkyShowtime’s growth in the next phase. “Over her career, she has established an impressive track record as a skilled dealmaker,” said Sarhan.
Georgieva herself expressed excitement about working with the SkyShowtime to bring their high-quality entertainment to more audiences. She said, “I am looking forward to working together with Monty and the SkyShowtime team to grow the business, forge new partnerships.”
The streaming venture has been expanding its teams across various offices in Europe, including Amsterdam, Budapest, London, Madrid, Stockholm, and Warsaw.
Additionally, SkyShowtime announced two other senior hires for its newly formed strategy team. Anazia Budhwar, previously a strategy and planning lead at Netflix, joins as the company’s Director of Content Strategy. Budhwar will work with the programming team to optimize acquisition and originals strategies. Brett Horowitz, who held roles at HBO Max and HBO Nordics, has been appointed as VP of Commercial Strategy. Horowitz will oversee subscriber growth strategy and support marketing and distribution and partnerships teams.
Sarhan highlighted that these recent hires demonstrate SkyShowtime’s appeal as a talent magnet in Europe. The joint venture aims to continue its expansion and capitalize on the expertise of its new team members to drive engagement and further enhance its position in the streaming market.
