Eman Esfandi, the star of Ahsoka, recently shared his approach to bringing the beloved Star Wars Rebels character, Ezra Bridger, into live-action.
With the confirmation of Ahsoka as Star Wars Rebels‘ fifth season, fans learned that characters like Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and Grand Admiral Thrawn would make the jump to live-action. Among them, Ezra Bridger, a central figure in Star Wars Rebels, and a former Jedi Padawan set to be further explored in Ahsoka season 2.
Esfandi took on the challenging task of embodying Ezra for the series. In a Twitter post by Star Wars, he revealed his creative process, saying, “I take Ezra Bridger as a real person, and he’s so smart, and he’s so gifted. He’s grown into himself a lot more. He’s become a much stronger Jedi, but even more, so he’s become more of a family member among his team and crew of Rebels. Because I already felt so connected to Ezra and felt like he was there whenever I needed him, I just felt that inspiration.”
This insight demonstrates Esfandi’s deep respect for the character. He not only comprehends Ezra’s past and what made him such a compelling character but also effectively captures the transition required to portray an older Ezra in Ahsoka‘s story, staying true to the character’s essence.
It’s officially missing #Ahsoka hours.

Through his experiences and the bonds he formed with the Rebels crew, Ezra became a fully realized character and a fan favorite by the time of Rebels season 4. Ahsoka continued to delve deeper into Ezra’s character.
Esfandi’s outstanding performance, along with the exploration of Ezra’s time on Peridea, added more layers to his story.
