The Drew Barrymore Show Sets Return Date After Controversy

The Drew Barrymore Show is making a comeback with season 4, which is set to premiere on October 16th on CBS. Show host Drew Barrymore initially faced backlash for her decision to return amid the writers’ strike, with the controversy dominating the news cycle for days.

Despite picketers outside her New York City studio, she defended her choice to continue without the striking writers. However, Barrymore later chose to delay The Drew Barrymore Show’s return until the end of the strike, expressing her apologies to those affected.

“I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt and, of course, to our incredible team,” Barrymore expressed on Instagram. “We really tried to find our way forward, and I truly hope for a resolution for the entire industry very soon.”

Other shows, such as The Talk and The Jennifer Hudson Show, also postponed their premiere dates. Luckily, the Writers Guild of America reached a tentative deal with studios and streamers, ending the strike on September 26th.

As a result, these daytime talk shows, known for their celebrity guests, are now moving forward with new return dates. The Kelly Clarkson Show, which employs WGA writers, will also be returning on October 16th, filming at NBC Studios in New York.

Despite the end of the writers’ strike, the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike continues, with negotiations set to resume. Until their own deal is reached, actors are not allowed to promote their projects on talk shows.
