The CW Announces 2 Canadian Scripted Shows for 2024

The CW is expanding its lineup of original shows, once again turning to Canada for its latest additions. The network has ordered two new dramas, titled Wild Cards and Sight Unseen, which are set to premiere in 2024.

Wild Cards stars Vanessa Morgan from Riverdale and Giacomo Gianniotti from Grey’s Anatomy. This co-production between The CW and Canada’s CBC follows a demoted detective and a con artist who are given a chance at redemption if they can work together to solve cases.

Sight Unseen, in partnership with Bell Media’s CTV, tells the story of a homicide detective named Tess Avery, who is forced to quit her job after a near-fatal incident leaves her clinically blind. She uses an assistance app and connects with a professional seeing-eye guide who lives 3,000 miles away. Together, they navigate life’s obstacles and solve crimes through hidden cameras and earpieces.

Liz Wise Lyall, the head of scripted programming at The CW, expressed excitement to collaborate with Blink49 Studios, Front Street Pictures, PillerSegan, and Sisters Troubetzkoy Productions to bring these dynamic series to life.

She shared, “We are thrilled to collaborate with our partners at Blink49 Studios, Front Street Pictures, Piller/Segan [Wild Cards] and Sisters Troubetzkoy Productions [Sight Unseen] to bring these dynamic series to life and highlight just how expansive The CW brand can be.”

These two Canadian dramas join the already-announced shows Sullivan’s Crossing and The Spencer Sisters on The network’s slate. The CW is looking to add more cost-effective entries to its scripted programming and has taken on many shows as a co-producer due to this strategy.
