Amazon Prime Secures ‘The Swarm’ for African Audiences

Amazon Prime has acquired the rights to the thrilling limited series, The Swarm, adapted from Frank Schtzing’s international bestseller.

Produced by Frank Doelger, known for his work on HBO’s Game of Thrones, the series follows a series of ecological disasters emerging from the oceans. Scientists race to uncover the cause, only to discover a powerful life force manipulating life beneath the surface.

The Swarm

Directed by Barbara Eder and Philipp Stlzl, The Swarm features an ensemble cast including Alexander Karim, Ccile de France, Leonie Benesch, Barbara Sukowa, and Takuya Kimura. The series has already garnered success in Germany, with 10 million views per episode on linear TV and online platforms. ZDF Studios and Beta Film are handling worldwide distribution, with the CW securing the US rights.

Yuliya Fischer, director of drama at ZDF Studios, expressed excitement over Amazon Prime introducing the thrilling series to African subscribers.

She stated, “The Swarm is one of the hottest titles in our scripted catalog. I’m delighted that Prime Video will be introducing its African subscribers to this ecological thriller that is like no other.”
