‘The Last of Us’ Creators Promises Season 2 Will Be ‘Little Less Canada’

The co-creators of The Last of Us have heard the complaints about the show’s plainly Canadian setting, and they’re ready to change the direction.

Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann held a press conference before of the season finale, when they admitted to one of the show’s few flaws: that every aspect of its American setting looks like the Canadian wilderness.

“It was a hell of a production. It was massive. I’m trying to stop saying it’s massive to myself, because I know that next season is going to be more massive, and I don’t want to freak out. But man, it wasn’t easy. I will give us, honestly, a solid B+, but my goal is to do better next season now that we’ve learned some lessons.” Mazin said about the extended shoot.

Mazin admitted that the set looks less like American cities, “Every now and then you get a little of, ‘Oh, it’s Canada’ when we don’t want it to be Canada.”

While season 2 of The Last Of Us will attempt to seem less Canadian, Mazin appears to have no ill towards the cold northern expanse that gave the program its particular appearance.

There’s no indication on when the second season of The Last Of Us will premiere on HBO.
