Shawn Levy is in talks to direct a new Star Wars film after completing Deadpool 3.
Levy is currently an executive producer on Netflix‘s biggest franchise Stranger Things, and he is set to helm two episodes for the show’s fifth and final season.
Taika Waititi is working on a brand-new Star Wars film, while Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is set to helm a second film that Damon Lindelof is co-writing with Justin Britt-Gibson.
Disney is also planning to release Deadpool 3 on November 8, 2024 — exactly two years from now — thus Levy’s Star Wars film would most likely appear at least two years later, in 2026. At the very least, it won’t be competing with J.D. Dillard’s planned film, since the filmmaker informed that Lucasfilm isn’t pushing through with the project, despite “not a lack of trying.”
Meanwhile, The Acolyte has just confirmed its cast, while The Mandalorian‘s third season will premiere in February, and other projects on the horizon include Ahsoka starring Rosario Dawson and Skeleton Crew featuring Jude Law.
