Netflix‘s first pilot, the comedy Little Sky, whose production was hindered by the writers strike, has completed filming in New Mexico.
Samara Weaving stars and executive produces the single-camera pilot. This week, production was delayed on Tuesday (6/13) and Thursday (6/15) due to WGA picketing. The pilot was supposed to be shot on location both days.
Production continues with no call sheets for crew, using very early call times to evade picketers, and locations sent to Department Heads by WhatsApp before midnight. Sources says that no performers, directors, or producers crossed the picket line.
Little Sky was supposed to shoot till Tuesday, June 20. According to reports, Netflix notified the actors and crew that they were satisfied with the content and that there was no need to complete the pilot.
The pilot follows Penelope Paul Porter, who is determined to fulfill her lifetime ambition of becoming a recognized on-air news reporter. When she receives an anonymous report that the Mayor of Little Sky is missing, she realizes this is her time to truly prove herself.
When she arrives in the eerie, lonely village, she thinks she’s stumbled across something far worse than she could have anticipated.
