HBO Extends ‘Real Time With Bill Maher’ Contract Through 2026

HBO isn’t ready to bid farewell to Bill Maher just yet. The cable network, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, has decided to keep Real Time with Bill Maher on its lineup for two more seasons, securing Maher’s presence until the end of 2026.

This renewal solidifies Maher’s position on the network, bringing him close to the impressive milestone of 700 episodes since the show’s launch in 2003.

Maher himself expressed his excitement about the extended tenure, calling it a “dream job of a lifetime” on a network many aspire to join.

The decision follows a bit of controversy last year when Maher announced the return of Real Time amid a writers strike but initially without its writing staff.

However, after facing criticism from the Writers Guild of America (WGA), Maher postponed the comeback until the strike concluded, and the show resumed with its full complement of writers.

Real Time with Bill Maher is helmed by a seasoned team of executive producers, including Maher, Sheila Griffiths, Marc Gurvitz, Dean Johnsen, and Billy Martin.

The show’s co-executive producer is Chris Kelly, with Matt Wood serving as producer and Paul Casey as director.

Nina Rosenstein, EVP of HBO Programming, Late Night & Specials, expressed HBO’s delight in continuing the partnership with Maher, highlighting the show’s role as a platform for diverse perspectives and discussions in today’s politically charged climate.
