Emma Mackey & Aimee Lou nominated for BAFTA Rising Star

The actors Sheila Atim and Emma Mackey, who became well-known on the blockbuster Netflix series “Sex Education,” and Aimee Lou Wood, who starred in the historical epic “The Woman King,” are among the contenders in the BAFTA Film Awards rising star category.

Naomi Ackie, who played late music icon Whitney Houston in the biopic “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” and “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande”. Actor Daryl McCormack are also on the list of five contenders unveiled on Tuesday. The lone male nominee is him.

In the Netflix comedic drama about teens attempting to figure out their love lives, Mackey and Wood portray close friends.

Wood was honoured on Tuesday for her work in the drama “Living,”. For which she previously won a BAFTA TV award for Female Performance in a Comedy Programme.

The single category at the annual British Academy of Film and Television Arts Film Awards. Which will be held this year on February 19 in London, is the EE Rising Star Award. Previous winners include Lashana Lynch, who co-starred with Atim in “The Woman King,” Tom Hardy, Kristen Stewart, and Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya. On Thursday, the complete list of nominees for the 2023 BAFTA Awards, which will be hosted by actor Richard E. Grant, will be revealed.
