Disney Would Make Mistake Selling Hulu, Says SVB Founding Partner

SVB MoffettNathanson’s founding partner and senior research analyst Michael Nathanson gave his opinion on Disney selling Hulu.

In an interview with Squawk Box, he discussed the possible deals the streaming giant would make for Hulu, Nathanson said, “I don’t think the bob has a natural buyer for Hulu.” As he believes that Comcast would not invest in media.

Because nobody is sure what will happen to Hulu, the stocks are at decline. And if Comcast buys Hulu, the stocks will be hit hard.

Upon asking about his opinion on how connected the bundle of Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ is, he said, “Of all people who use Disney+, 40 percent are bundled and they enjoy deep discounts because of Disney+ and Hulu together”. According to him it is hard to unconstruct that bundle and it would reduce their potential audience.

Nathanson believes that Disney+ serves a narrow audience and is not as broad as Netflix or HBO Max. He concluded his discussion by saying, “I think it would be a mistake to actually get rid of Hulu.”
