Dan Trachtenberg debunks rumor of directing ‘Twister 2’

Dan Trachtenberg, director of Prey, refutes that he is on the shortlist of contenders being considered to direct Twister 2.

Twister, released in 1996, tapped into people’s extreme fear of tornadoes, grossing $495 million worldwide. According to a recent rumor, Universal and Amblin Entertainment are now looking for directors with the goal of starting production on Twister 2 in the spring of 2023.

According to sources, prospective filmmakers include Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vaserhelyi (Free Solo), Dan Trachtenberg (Prey), and Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings).

However Trachtenberg has already stepped out to dispel the impression that he is interested in the role.

This may confirms that Trachtenberg is already working on Prey‘s sequel. In a recent interview, the filmmaker also stated that when he created Prey, he was already thinking about continuing the plot, enabling the “geek” in him to see as far ahead as he could.

This all seems to hint to Trachtenberg’s great desire to continue the story of Naru and her people’s fight against their extraterrestrial attackers.
