To celebrate the much-anticipated return of late-night TV, Jimmy Kimmel is pulling out all the stops. After months without new episodes due to the writers’ strike, Kimmel is finally making his comeback on October 2nd with ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.
In a clever spoof (using footage from Hulu’s The Kardashians) of the recent Kim and Kourtney fight that has been making its rounds online, Kimmel released a promo video on his Instagram account. The video shows Kimmel calling Kim to share his excitement about the return of his show.
After sharing the news, Kimmel exclaims, “I’m very happy!” But he can’t help but notice that Kim doesn’t seem as enthusiastic. “Are you happy for me?” he asks, to which Kim responds incredulously, “Why would I not be happy for you?”
Kimmel playfully continues, teasing Kim about her lack of enthusiasm. He says, “Everyone here is really happy. It’s been 150 days since we did a show, and I’m happy we’re back. But you don’t seem to care. You don’t even like the show, I guess.”
Kim disagrees, insisting that Kimmel is wrong about her feelings towards the show. And from there, their conversation hilariously derails. Later, Kimmel turns to his sidekick Guillermo and remarks, “She’s a witch, she’s an actual witch.”
While the latest season of The Kardashians premiered with a fiery phone call between Kim and Kourtney, Kimmel and his fellow late-night hosts are set to resume their regular programming schedule starting this Monday. Some of the guests announced for Jimmy Kimmel Live include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kathy Griffin, Wanda Sykes, and Dax Shephard, although the lineup is subject to change.
