Netflix horror anthology series ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’ evokes nightmares in first trailer

The unsettling teaser for Guillermo del Toro’s forthcoming horror series Cabinet of Curiosities been released on Netflix.

The film consists of excerpts from the anthology show’s numerous storylines, showcasing the range of scares available to viewers. The moments that stand out include a house that seems to be haunted, a bad book that the buyer of a creepy storage unit inherits, and a Lovecraftian forest where an unknown thing is stalking the trees.

Fans of del Toro wishing to see some of the director’s inventive monsters are in luck as the teaser shows a range of terrifying creatures, each with a distinctive look.

“Each of the episodes are a whole world,” explains De Toro in a previous trailer. “They present you with different delights. Some are savory, some are sweet. You get a surprise from each of the bites.”

Some of the filmmakers involved include Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown), Keith Thomas (Firestarter, The Vigil), Jennifer Kent (The Babadook, The Nightingale), David Prior (The Empty Man), Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night).

While the plots for the various Cabinet of Curiosities episodes are still largely unknown, Netflix has confirmed the titles:

  • Lot 36
  • Pickman’s Model
  • The Autopsy
  • The Murmuring
  • The Outside
  • The Viewing

On October 25, Cabinet of Curiosities will make its Netflix debut with a two episode premiere. Then, through October 28th, there will be a daily release of two new episodes.
