On Monday, HBO made an exciting announcement about its upcoming feature documentary titled The Insurrectionist Next Door, directed by Alexandra Pelosi. The documentary is set to premiere on Sunday, October 15, at 9:00 p.m. PT/ET, and will be available on HBO Max.
In this new film, Alexandra Pelosi turns her lens towards the individuals who were part of the disturbing events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Over the past two years, she conducted candid interviews with people who faced charges for their involvement in that historic and tumultuous day.
January 6th marked the day when a group of Donald Trump’s supporters descended upon Washington, D.C., attempting to keep him in power following his loss to Joe Biden in the 2020 Presidential election. Pelosi herself was present inside the Capitol during these infamous events.
Through her interviews, she aims to delve deep into the motivations of those who traveled from various parts of the country to be there and explore whether their perspectives have evolved since that pivotal day.
The objective here is to gain a better understanding of the cultural and political divisions that have sharply divided the nation. Despite these challenging and contentious subjects, The Insurrectionist Next Door reveals surprisingly open and honest conversations that transcend political divides.
It’s worth noting that Pelosi not only directed but also produced this HBO Original documentary, with support from executive producers Nancy Abraham and Lisa Heller from HBO, along with coordinating producer Anna Klein.
