Sam Levinson Describes Euphoria Season 3 as ‘Film Noir’

Euphoria creator Sam Levinson says the upcoming third season is a “film noir.”

HBO Max announced in February 2022 that Euphoria has been renewed for a third season, citing that the second season premiere had been the most-watched episode of a series ever. HBO Drama Chief Francesca Orsi said to Deadline, “Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken Season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart. We couldn’t be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into Season 3.”

During a recent interview with Elle, Levinson complimented Zendaya and explained that through Rue’s character, he aims to explore how individuals hold onto their principles in a world filled with corruption.

“She’s the most competitive person I know, in a good way. She’s constantly growing as an artist and always seeking a challenge. She’s never complacent.”

Details about season 3 remain undisclosed by Sam Levinson. Nevertheless, Heidi Bivens, the costume designer for Euphoria, shared with Vogue that there are rumors placing the upcoming season approximately five years ahead, depicting the characters’ lives after their high school days.
