Russo Brothers urged Steven Soderbergh to pass ‘good’ word about them to Kevin Feige

Steven Soderbergh reveals the Russo Brothers urged him to say “good things” about them to Kevin Feige in order for them to land Captain America: Winter Soldier.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, he shares that he is good friends with the Anthony Russo and Joseph Russo and when he first met them, they wanted him to say “nice things” in front of Feige.

“The Russos are friends of mine. Who knew when I first met them that this was what they loved to do and had a real feeling for? I didn’t know this until they called me and said, ‘We’re up for this Captain America movie [Captain America: The Winter Soldier]. Will you call Kevin Feige and say nice things about us?'”

He further says that Russo Brothers are doing great job with the superhero movies as according to him marving Marvel or DC films is “hard” and he doesn’t have the patience to do it.

“I’m not the audience for that. I never was. When I was growing up, I never had comic books. I’m not a fantasy person. I’m too stuck on the ground. So, I’m just not the target for that. I’m agnostic about them. I can tell you right now, just as a filmmaker, they’re really tough movies to make in terms of the stamina required.”

Soderbergh’s latest is Magic Mike’s Last Dance is playing in theatres.
