The first stills from Damien Chazelle’s newest film, Babylon, which opens in theatres on Christmas Day in limited release before expanding on January 6th, have been released by Paramount Pictures. Damien Chazelle is an Oscar winner for his previous film, La La Land.
The original epic, starring Diego Calva (Narcos: Mexico), Margot Robbie (Amsterdam), and Brad Pitt (Bullet Train), is set in 1920s Los Angeles as Hollywood makes the switch from silent to talkies. It follows the rise and fall of several people during a time of unrestrained luxury and depravity in early Hollywood. It is a story of oversized ambition and outrageous excess.

Babylon follows the studio films First Man, La La Land, and Whiplash for Chazelle. With his work on the latter film, the director received his first nomination for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. La La Land also received a nomination for Best Original Screenplay and was the youngest recipient of the Best Director award.
