Lionsgate Unveils Animated Twilight Series Amid Franchise Expansion

Prepare for a supernatural animated treat as Lionsgate takes a bite out of the beloved Twilight series, revealing plans for a new animated installment. The announcement was made by Michael Burns, Lionsgate’s vice chairman, during a recent Q&A at the Morgan Stanley media conference.

“We’re going to go out with the ‘Twilight’ series, an animated series, I think there’ll be a lot of interest in that,” shared Burns.

This revelation follows last April’s report by Variety, hinting at the early stages of a Twilight TV series adaptation in the works at Lionsgate Television. The animated series will draw inspiration from Stephanie Meyer’s book series, previously adapted into a blockbuster film franchise featuring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner.

Twilight Series

The original “Twilight” novels, including “Twilight,” “New Moon,” “Eclipse,” and “Breaking Dawn,” captivated readers between 2005 and 2008. Meyer continued to expand the universe with “Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined” in 2015, swapping the genders of the main characters, and “Midnight Sun” in 2020, offering Edward’s perspective.

The Twilight Saga film series, spanning five releases from 2008 to 2012, collectively earned over $3 billion worldwide. Now, with the animated series, fans can anticipate a fresh take on the beloved tale.

In addition to the animated Twilight, Lionsgate is extending another successful franchise to the small screen. Burns shared plans for a television series based on the acclaimed John Wick films, starring Keanu Reeves as the iconic action hero.

Following the success of the film series, the upcoming John Wick show adds to Lionsgate’s growing portfolio of captivating content.

As the studio ventures into animated supernatural romance and action-packed television, fans of both franchises have much to look forward to in the coming entertainment landscape.
