Hulu Scores Touchdown with ‘Chad Powers’ Comedy – Glen Powell Takes the Lead

Hulu is spicing up its content lineup with a series order for Chad Powers, a half-hour comedy that finds inspiration in an Eli Manning sketch originally aired on ESPN+. Glen Powell, known for his role in Anyone But You, is set to take the lead in this gridiron adventure.

The narrative unfolds around Chad Powers, a once-promising quarterback whose college career takes a nosedive due to his unruly behavior. In a twist of fate, he adopts the persona of Chad Powers, a talented and amiable character, to join a struggling Southern football team.

Co-creators and executive producers Glen Powell and Michael Waldron, the creative force behind Loki, are enthusiastic about diving into the world of college football. The inspiration for the series emerged from an Eli Manning sketch featured in the Eli’s Places series produced by NFL Films and Omaha Productions.

Powell and Waldron share their excitement, stating, “We’re both diehard college football fans. When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew that was the way into a big, fun story about this world. We’re excited to be part of this team, and can’t wait to get Chad in the game. Think fast, run fast.”

Eli Manning, an NFL veteran and the brains behind the original sketch, serves as an executive producer alongside Omaha Productions’ Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, and ESPN. The unexpected popularity of Chad Powers has even surprised Manning himself, leading to his eagerness to explore the character’s journey further.

As Chad Powers gears up for production under the banner of 20th Television, fans can anticipate a humorous and engaging series that puts a fresh spin on the college football landscape.
