Avatar: The Last Airbender Dominates Nielsen Streaming Rankings

In a remarkable debut, “Avatar: The Last Airbender” stormed onto Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings, capturing nearly 2.6 billion minutes of viewership within just four days of release. This impressive feat almost doubled the U.S. debut of Netflix’s One Piece,” a live-action adaptation of the popular manga series, which garnered 1.3 billion viewing minutes in its first four days.

What’s intriguing is that despite Netflix’s earlier data suggesting a modest lead for “Avatar” over “One Piece,” Nielsen’s U.S.-focused metrics reveal a stark contrast, indicating a stronger stateside reception for “Avatar.”

Following closely behind in second place was the returning favorite, “Love Is Blind,” with 2.4 billion minutes watched during the February 19 to 25 period. This marked a rare occasion where two titles surpassed the two billion-minute milestone in a single week, underscoring the streaming dominance of these shows.

The ever-popular children’s series “Bluey” secured the third spot, amassing just under 1.1 billion minutes of viewership. Meanwhile, “Warrior” made a notable chart debut in fourth place, gaining newfound attention after its cancellation by Max and subsequent addition to Netflix.

Rounding out the rankings were familiar titles like “Young Sheldon,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “NCIS,” along with newcomers such as “True Detective,” which enjoyed increased viewership following the release of its finale on Netflix.

Additionally, Nielsen provided insights into the viewership of the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards, streamed on Netflix for the first time, accumulating 170 million viewing minutes over the airing night and the subsequent day.

Avatar: The Last Airbender has unequivocally asserted its dominance in the streaming realm, captivating audiences with its compelling narrative and captivating characters.
