Underworld Movies in Order

The Underworld series is badass because it happens to be the only franchise where leather-clad vampires attempt to fight giant werewolves. The movie depicts the tale of a massive conflict between vampires and the full-moon creatures known as Lycans. Selene (Kate Beckinsale), plays a “Death Dealer” who vows to remove werewolves from the earth permanently. Michael (Scott Speedman), a vampire/werewolf hybrid, is indulged in a fistfight with the character Bill Nighy, a vampire elder. 

With any mythological and folklore tale-based series, comes lots of prequels and sequels. Which is where we come in. Here’s a list of all the Underworld movies in order, chronological as well as according to the release date, You decide how you want to watch the Sci-Fi series.

How many Underworld Movies are there?

There are five full-length Underworld movies in total. In addition to the five live-action movies in the series, there is also a trilogy of animated shorts that are combined into the 18-minute short film Underworld: Endless War.

Underworld Movies in Chronological Order

1. Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009)

Although it is the third movie in order in the Underworld series, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is a prequel of the first movie and has a place in the beginning of the timeline. Rise of the Lycans, features Michael Sheen as Lucian, a Lycan raised by Viktor (Bill Nighy), taking place in 1402 and substitues Kate Beckinsale as its main lead character. Lucian shifts the circumstances that guide towards the Vampire-Lycan war.

2. Underworld: Endless War – Part I (2011)

Endless wars is amongst the animated short films of the series. It captures Selene’s early experience as a Death Dealer, a vampire assassin who is the main character of the series. Laura Harris voices Selene in these shots, which were available before Underworld: Awakening wherein Kate Beckinsale played the role.

3. Underworld: Endless War – Part II (2011)

The second part of the animated shorts, Endless Wars, features Selene who is in Paris, and is set in 1967.

4. Underworld (2003)

Underworld, is set in London around the year 2003. The movie introduces the audience to the Underworld realm and the hidden origins of Lycans and vampires. Selene (Beckinsale) has spent her life to eradicate lycans, however when Michael, the human she starts falling in love with, is bitten by one, her plans are shattered.

5. Underworld: Evolution (2006)

The story of Underworld: Evolution is technically the earliest in the timeline, set in 1202. It’ll transgress into the past of Vampires and Lycans while Selene and Michael will attempt to fix the disruptions between the two species. However, the vampire elder Markus (Tony Curran) distorts their attempts.

6. Underworld: Endless War – Part III (2011)

The final Underworld: Endless War animated short returns with Selene in Paris for the last instance. Here, she comes intending to kill the last of the Lycan brothers, Krandrill. She’s also accompanied by Michael Corvin this time.

7. Underworld: Awakening (2012)

The chronicles of Underworld: Awakening take place shortly after the time of Underworld: Evolution. The humans are now aware of the Lycans as well as the vampires, this has awakened a curiosity to find out more about their species and as a result they start hunting the lycans and vampires. Henceforth, Selene is captured and imprisoned in cryogenic suspension for 12 years, leading the story forward to around 2015.

8. Underworld: Blood Wars (2017)

The most recent development in the Underworld series, the Blood Wars follows a few years down the line of Underworld: Awakening. The vampire faction and The Lycan clan that betrayed her are now on a hunt to kill Selene. Meanwhile, begins working on ending the never-ending war between the two kinds forever.
