“Community” movie finally announced at Peacock, returning TV Stars confirmed

Peacock has formally confirmed that the “Community” movie is happening and will have a number of returning actors from the television series after years of rumors and suggestions.

It has been revealed that six of the original cast of nine will reprise their roles in the Community movie. The roles of Jeff, Abed, Annie, Britta, the Dean, and Chang will all be played again by Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong. The only remaining actors are Chevy Chase, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Donald Glover, who are not actively associated with the movie.

Dan Harmon, the creator of the series, and Andrew Guest, the project’s executive producer, were also confirmed. Since Community’s finale, Harmon has kept himself quite busy by cocreating the hugely popular Adult Swim comedy Rick and Morty with Justin Roiland. The confirmation of the movie comes roughly a month after the previous probable update regarding its production status.

The critically praised six-season run of Community came to an end in 2015 after moving between networks. Since then, the show has grown in popularity thanks to streaming platforms like Netflix, inspiring many fans to revive the “Six Seasons and a Movie” campaign that the show itself inspired.
