Kirsten Lepore, writer/director of I Am Groot Season 2 reveals that she is open to making featured length movie either with Baby Groot or Teenage Groot.
In the Disney+ series, Baby Groot is up to no good, whether it’s due to a cosmic ice cream truck, a freshly born bird, or gaining a nose. When he travels the cosmos, one can bet he’ll get himself into a lot of trouble, but he’ll also have a lot of fun while doing so, and perhaps learn something along the way.
In an interview with Collider, Lepore talked about taking Groot on longer adventures rather than the short ones.
“I think doing a longer adventure would also be fun. Playing with Groot in any capacity is always a joy because he’s such a great and established character. Honestly, you can really drop him into any scenario and he’s just so fun to watch. It was easy to write these because he’s so rich in what he gives you already,” she said.
She continued, “So, a feature of Groot would be amazing. More shorts would be amazing. Now we’ve gotten to see, Alpha Groot and Teenage Groot, and Groot in all different iterations. I’ll take all the Groots. Give me as much Groot as possible.”
In the new adventure, Jeffrey Wright voices The Watcher for a guest appearance. Lepore said she couldn’t be happier to have him onbaord. “As soon as Jeffrey came in, we were like, ‘Oh, my God, yes. Okay, this is gonna work. This is great.’ It’s just such a particular brand of magic, in that voice. He knocked that performance out of the park.
