Emily Blunt roots for husband Krasinski return as Mister Fantastic in MCU

Recently, Emily Blunt acknowledged that she hopes John Krasinski reprises his role as Mister Fantastic in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Blunt discussed the possibility of Krasinski reprising his Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness role during a red carpet interview with Hey U Guys. “I hope so. I hope so,” she said. “You never know.” Blunt added that she was pleased when Krasinski originally landed the Mister Fantastic role in the Doctor Strange sequel because of his affection for the MCU: “I was really happy for him because I think he’s a huge fan. And I understand why it’s such an ardent passionate religion for people. It’s a huge part of our cinematic history now. So he was thrilled.”

Contrary to Blunt’s optimism, persistent rumors say that Marvel Studios intends to use a different actor in the upcoming Fantastic Four revival in place of Krasinski. Fans and industry insiders have suggested Penn Badgley, Glenn Howerton, Brandon Routh, and Tom Ellis as possible Mister Fantastic contenders. Krasinski continues to be the only Reed Richards in the MCU for the time being at least, as Marvel Studios has yet to openly comment on the Fantastic Four cast or Krasinski’s future in the MCU.

That said, previous comments by Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi implied that Krasinski’s tenure as the Fantastic Four’s leader was always meant to be temporary. “It’s so funny that Kevin cast John because the fans had a dream of who the perfect Reed Richards would be,” Raimi said. “And because [Doctor Strange 2] is an alternate universe, I think Kevin said, ‘Let’s make that dream come true.’ I’ve always really enjoyed all of his performances.”

Fantastic Four arrives in cinemas on Feb. 14, 2025 and is part of Phase Six of the MCU.
