The Calling, from Goliath and Big Little Lies creator David E. Kelley; Leopard Skin, starring Carla Gugino; and Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, starring Adam DeVine as Bumper, are just a few of the intriguing new episodes premiering this month on Peacock. Also, the second season of the riveting British mystery thriller The Capture is now available to watch.
Peacock is always getting new, high-quality content added, so there is always something to enjoy. However, Peacock had to increase the number of its original movies and TV shows in order to compete with industry heavyweights like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+. The studio experimented with teen dramas, joined the revival and reboot trend, and made their first original Christmas film. Even though Peacock might not have the most unique content, the site knows how important it is to focus on quality over quantity. Check out our roundup of the top shows streaming on Peacock at the moment to find some new additions to your watch list as we approach the holiday season.
One of Peacock’s best-known books, “Dr. Death,” is about a neurosurgeon whose colleagues start to notice strange changes in the health of his patients. It’s becoming increasingly obvious that this man poses a threat to everyone around him as they learn more about his history.
Dr. Death, which is based on a true tale and a podcast of the same name, wastes no time in establishing that Dr. Duntsch has committed some sort of wrongdoing by opening with him already behind bars. The show then rewinds to show us how he got away with his crimes for so long and how he was finally exposed. This is one of the best original shows from Peacock, and it gives a disturbing look into the mind of a troubled person.

Bruce Almighty (2003)
The best examples of Jim Carrey’s work are often the ones where he takes a simple “what if?” question and makes it hilariously absurd. The solution to the question “What would happen if an ordinary schlub was bestowed with the powers of God?” can be found in the outrageously inventive answer presented in the film Bruce Almighty. This is Carrey’s high-concept comedy at its best, and the fact that it takes a shockingly heartfelt turn in its last act is a delightful cherry on top of the wonderful cake that is this movie.

The Housewives Of The North Pole – 6.0
Despite the fact that Hallmark and Lifetime have dominated Christmas movies on television for a very long time, streaming services have recently begun to join in on the action. Including Peacock, who this year brought out one of their very first Christmas movies, titled “The Housewives of the North Pole.”
The film about Christmas depicts true events. The Real Housewives actress Kyle Richards plays the role of Trish, who is known as the Queen of North Pole, Vermont. Trish is able to win the town’s house decorating contest every time because her best friend helps her (Betsy Brandt). When the two get into an argument, though, all of that is going to change. In the meantime, their older children are developing romantic feelings for one another.

A Friend of the Family (2022)
Jack Lacy, fresh off of his part in The White Lotus, for which he was nominated for an Emmy, stars in this drama miniseries alongside other notable actors such as Anna Paquin, Colin Hanks, and McKenna Grace. In this drama, based on real events, a man named Robert Berchtold (played by Lacy) kidnaps a young girl named Jan Broberg (Grace) on multiple occasions over the course of several years.
The Brobergs’ religious beliefs and strong sense of community act as blinders, preventing them from seeing Berchtold’s actual goals and psychopathic tendencies. He is a close friend of the family. As Berchtold keeps digging deeper and deeper into the family, even trying to turn the young girl against them, the patriarch of the family, played by Tom Hanks, is finding it harder and harder to ignore the truth that lies beneath the charm. “A Friend of the Family” is a disturbing and interesting true crime drama that will appeal to people who like these kinds of stories.

A kind local mortician in Texas becomes close to a wealthy widow, but when she becomes overbearing, he takes extreme measures to break free from her. Bernie, in contrast to Nugent, enjoys universal adoration. He teaches Sunday school when he’s not helping direct the high school musical. Linklater’s brilliant, darkly funny (and true) story is interspersed with interesting interviews with people from the community, much like in a well-played mystery. Linklater casts real people from East Texas in the roles they play. This is a nice contrast to the melodrama of Bernie’s fatal encounter with the rich widow. Some of the funniest lines in the movie come from regular citizens.

One Of Us Is Lying
One of Us Is Lying is based on Karen M. McManus’s best-selling young adult novel of the same name. It is about five different high school students who spend a day in detention. During that day, one of them has a severe allergic reaction and dies right before they are about to tell the truth about bad rumors about the other four. The police immediately think that the other four students did it, and they start an investigation into the killing. Each of the suspects has their own hidden motives for the crime.
Series showrunner Dario Madrona said, “We’ve been respectful to the spirit of the novel and the ideas and the characters, but also attempting to add some tiny twists and turns here and there so we may surprise readers of the book.” One of Us Is Lying’s first season came out earlier this year to high praise, and the show was quickly picked up for a second season.

Rutherford Falls – 6.5
The rise of streaming platforms is good in part because it gives people who haven’t been heard before a chance to tell their stories. Indeed, this is how Peacock Island’s Rutherford Falls was established.
The comedy, which was made by Michael Schur, Ed Helms, and Sierra Teller Ornelas, is about Nathan (Helms) and Reagan (Jana Schmieding), who have been friends for a long time but are having trouble with each other because of tensions between Indigenous and white settler cultures and histories in their town.

The Harry Potter Franchise (2001-2011)
Peacock offers users the opportunity to see the entire collections of some of the most popular and critically acclaimed film franchises in their entirety. Whether you’re seeing them for the first time or the hundredth, the Harry Potter films provide a whimsical, emotional, and magical trip while also standing on their own as some pretty remarkable films in their own right.
Because of the source material, this is a franchise that develops along with its characters as they grow older, and as the films progress, they begin to explore topics that are more appropriate for adults. Watching this is a requirement for any and all adolescents in the audience.
