Paramount+, the US-based streaming platform that debuted in the UK last year, has been added to certain Virgin Media TV boxes this week without much fanfare.
Although some Virgin Media customers are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Paramount+, the streaming service that launched in the UK last year, not all of them will be able to access it for free like some Sky subscribers. While the company had previously announced the impending arrival of Paramount+ in 2022, the app quietly appeared on select Virgin Media TV boxes this week without much fanfare, possibly as part of a “soft” launch.
Paramount+ is a streaming platform available worldwide, which features content from CBS, Showtime and Paramount Pictures, along with exclusive original programming. The service includes a variety of popular TV shows and movies from its library, including the fantasy series Yellowjackets, the drama series Yellowstone, and various Star Trek titles like Strange New Worlds and Picard.
Unfortunately, customers with the older V6 or Tivo boxes will not be able to access the Paramount+ app. Additionally, the platform is only available as a standalone streaming service, which means customers will need to pay for it directly, without the option of adding it to their Virgin Media TV bill or receiving cashback credit as they can with other services on the Stream box.
