Vernā Myers, Netflix first head of inclusion strategy, will be stepping down from her role at the end of September, after five years with the streaming giant.
Vernā Myers, who joined Netflix in 2018, will continue to serve as an advisor while returning to her consulting company, The Vernā Myers Company. Wade Davis, Netflix’s vice president of inclusion strategy, who has worked under Myers for the past four years, will be promoted to oversee the team.
During her tenure, Myers had a significant impact on Netflix, leading strategic interventions and raising awareness of inclusion throughout the company. Under her leadership, the inclusion team expanded to include employees from all regions and functions, focusing on culturally relevant practices in areas such as hiring, compensation, onboarding, feedback, and growth.

“Vernā has had an immense impact on Netflix over the last five years and I’m glad we’ll still get to work together and benefit from her deep expertise,” Netflix’s chief talent officer Sergio Ezama said. Ezama also praised Davis as a respected leader and the right person to build on Netflix’s commitment to inclusion, taking their work to the next level.
Myers herself expressed her love for Netflix and the people there, stating, “It’s hard to step away from the company and this role because of how much I love Netflix and the people here.” She shared her excitement for Davis and the Inclusion Strategy team, expressing confidence in their ability to continue making progress together.
Throughout her time at Netflix, Myers released the company’s first inclusion report in 2021 and developed a curriculum that involved over 600 executives worldwide participating in small group workshops on inclusive leadership.
As Myers transitions back to her consulting company, she looks forward to working with global organizations and industries while continuing to advise Netflix.
