Marvel Studios is eyeing Top Gun: Maverick star Lewis Pullman to fill the role of Sentry in the upcoming Thunderbolts film, following Steven Yeun’s departure.
Insider Daniel Richtman dropped the bombshell, revealing that Pullman, known for his recent performance in Top Gun: Maverick, has been offered the role of Sentry in Thunderbolts. This news comes on the heels of reports that Austin Abrams, famed for his role in The Walking Dead, turned down the part a few weeks ago.
The Sentry, a character created by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee in 2000, is a superhero with powers akin to Superman. Robert Reynolds, the man behind the Sentry, gains abilities described as the “power of a thousand exploding suns” after ingesting an experimental serum.
However, this serum also gives rise to The Void, an evil counterpart lurking within Reynolds, emerging when his mental health falters.
While the Sentry has been a prominent figure in Marvel Comics, his on-screen debut has been long-awaited. Thunderbolts is poised to bring the character into the cinematic realm, offering fans a fresh take on the superhero.
As the Sentry’s live-action adaptation promises to be a game-changer, fans are eagerly anticipating Lewis Pullman’s potential portrayal, especially after his impactful performance in Top Gun: Maverick. Marvel Studios continues to assemble an impressive cast for Thunderbolts, setting the stage for a thrilling addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
