Comedian Tiffany Haddish addressed her recent DUI arrest in Beverly Hills with humor during a stand-up set at the Laugh Factory in Long Beach, California. The incident, which occurred early Friday morning, involved Haddish allegedly falling asleep at the wheel with the car engine running.
According to TMZ The Beverly Hills Police Department received calls around 5:45 a.m. reporting a woman slumped over the steering wheel in the middle of Beverly Drive. Haddish was taken into custody and released shortly thereafter.
An audience member at the Laugh Factory asked about the arrest, to which Haddish hilariously responded, “You tell me. I don’t know.”
In a lighthearted manner, Haddish joked,
“I prayed to God to send me a man with a job, preferably in a uniform. God answered my prayers because God believes in me.”
This is not the first time Haddish has faced legal trouble related to driving under the influence. She was arrested in Georgia in January 2022 for a suspected DUI and improper stopping on a roadway. The upcoming court date for the Georgia case is set for December 4.
It also isn’t the first time Haddish has used humor to address a legal situation.
Following her 2022 DUI arrest in Georgia, she appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and quipped,
“I’ve been praying to God to send me a new man. A good man. And God went ahead and sent me four… in uniform.”
Despite the legal challenges, Tiffany Haddish remains in good spirits, using her comedic talent to address the situations with wit and charm. As she navigates the legal process, fans can expect her to continue sharing her experiences through her unique lens of humor and resilience.
