‘The Mean One’ Grinch gets his own horror movie this year

The Mean One, a horror film starring the Grinch, will debut on December 15th 2022, thanks to a deal announced today by XYZ Films, much like Winnie the Pooh. The outlandish slasher spoof from director Steven LaMorte will be made available to all horror enthusiasts for free across the country.

In the bold new spoof, The Mean One (David Howard Thornton) is a hairy, green-skinned curmudgeon who despises the holiday season and lives on a mountain above the town of Newville. Twenty Christmases after The Mean One slaughtered her parents, young Cindy (Krystle Martin) is returning to the town to find closure. He is about to find out that the roast beast is still eagerly awaited by this fiend with a heart two sizes too tiny.

The Mean One, starring David Howard Thornton, Krystle Martin, Chase Mullins, John Bigham, Erik Baker, Flip Kobler, and Amy Schumacher, was directed by LaMorte and written by Finn and Flip Kobler. The film is a collaboration of A Sleight of Hand Productions, Amy Rose Productions, and Kali Pictures, and it is produced by Martine Melloul, Schumacher, and LaMorte. Jordan Rosner, Gato Scatena, and Zach Stampone are the executive producers.

XYZ Films’ Manager of Acquisitions and Development Alex Williams notes, “As a passionate fan of seasonal horror (and the TERRIFIER franchise), The Mean One is exactly the kind of film that lands on my personal “nice list.” This movie is a stunningly great time with a ferociously subversive turn from David Howard Thornton and XYZ Films is so proud to be bringing this soon to be iconic Christmas slasher to audiences this holiday season.”
