FX is bringing its acclaimed series The Bear to cable for the first time with a special four-night marathon of Season 1. Starting Sunday, June 2, fans can catch two episodes each night at 10 p.m. ET, culminating in the season finale on Wednesday, June 5.
This Emmy-winning series, streaming on Hulu, stars Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Created by Christopher Storer, “The Bear” follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Allen White), a young chef who takes over his brother’s sandwich shop after his death. With themes of food, family, grief, and friendships, the show has resonated with audiences since its debut.
Variety reports that Season 2 saw Carmy, Sydney (Edebiri), and Richie (Moss-Bachrach) attempting to transform the sandwich shop into a fine dining restaurant. The show also features Lionel Boyce, Matty Matheson, Liza Colón-Zayas, Oliver Platt, and Abby Elliott. Cameos by Jamie Lee Curtis, John Mulaney, Sarah Paulson, Jon Bernthal, and others added star power to the mix.
When Season 2 premiered on Hulu, it became FX’s most-watched Hulu premiere, with a 70% increase in viewing hours over the first four days. Although surpassed by FX’s “Shogun,” “The Bear” remains a significant hit.
Season 3, consisting of 10 episodes, will be available for streaming on Hulu starting June 27. FX boss John Landgraf addressed the release strategy, explaining why they opted for a binge-drop instead of weekly episodes. Despite considering a weekly release for Season 2, they stuck to the binge model due to the show’s intense, anxiety-inducing nature.
Landgraf emphasized the continuity in the show’s format: “The way Chris makes it, even though the episodes are separate, there’s a whole vibe to every season. We decided not to change what we had already set in motion. Even if we could, I don’t think we’d change it now.”
Don’t miss the chance to relive the first season of “The Bear” on FX, and get ready for the highly anticipated third season on Hulu this June.
