Paul Walter Hauser Talks ‘Cobra Kai,’ Wrestling, and Upcoming Projects

Cobra Kai star Paul Walter Hauser isn’t just conquering Hollywood; he’s taking the wrestling world by storm. The Emmy and Golden Globe winner has immersed himself in professional wrestling, competing in intense matches and training rigorously. Hauser’s latest venture is prepping for his Major League Wrestling debut while juggling high-profile projects like the “Naked Gun” reboot.

Hauser’s wrestling journey began with a charity match, which reignited his childhood passion. He’s since faced off against notable wrestlers like Matt Cardona and Sami Callihan. Hauser shared his excitement and preparation for the 6th Annual Battle Riot, where he’ll compete among 40 wrestlers for a shot at the world heavyweight championship.

“It’s such an honour and privilege,” Hauser said. “When I was a kid, I never imagined I’d be filming a ‘Naked Gun’ reboot while gearing up for a battle royal.”

Hauser’s dedication to wrestling is evident. He’s been training hard, balancing his diet, and maintaining a strict workout regimen. “I work out five to six days a week, focusing on upper body strength,” Hauser explained. “Even at 5-foot-8 ½, 255 pounds, I want to be a powerful wrestler, able to lift a 300-pound opponent.”

Despite his busy schedule, Hauser squeezes in wrestling matches between filming commitments. “I’d rather ask for forgiveness than permission,” he joked. His upcoming matches include a bout with Danhausen for The Wrestling Revolver and another in Connecticut with his mentor, Paul London.

Hauser’s wrestling ambitions extend beyond MLW. “I’d love to hold a title in MLW and eventually compete in TNA or AEW,” he said. “My dream title as a kid was the Intercontinental title.”

Hauser’s wrestling aspirations have even caught the attention of his “Naked Gun” co-star, Liam Neeson. Although Neeson won’t attend Hauser’s matches in person, he’s supportive. “Liam wanted to come but is wary of crowds. He’ll watch on YouTube,” Hauser shared.

Balancing wrestling and acting, Hauser remains grateful for his opportunities. “God has been spoiling me rotten,” he reflected. “I’ve worked hard, stayed sober, and surrounded myself with great people.”
