Paramount Snags Chris McCoy’s Thriller Spec ‘Hit The Gas’ With Neal Moritz Producing

In a swift move, Paramount Pictures has acquired Hit the Gas, a gripping spec script penned by Chris McCoy, with powerhouse producer Neal Moritz on board to bring the project to life.

While the details of the film’s plot remain shrouded in mystery, Hit the Gas is touted as a high-octane thriller that promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Tania Landau will oversee the project for Moritz’s Original Film, while Vanessa Joyce will handle affairs for Paramount.

The script was circulated to studio-based producers just last week, without any prior attachments. However, Moritz’s keen eye for compelling material led to the studio’s swift preemptive acquisition of the script within a mere 24 hours.

Chris McCoy, a distinguished author whose screenplays have earned a place on the prestigious Black List multiple times, brings a wealth of creative expertise to Hit the Gas.

With previous credits including projects for Paramount, Marvel, Disney, Amazon, DreamWorks, and Fox, McCoy has demonstrated his versatility across various genres. Notably, his directorial venture Good Kids garnered critical acclaim, showcasing his adeptness at crafting engaging narratives.

Neal Moritz, renowned for his contributions to blockbuster franchises like Fast & Furious and Sonic the Hedgehog, continues to expand his impressive portfolio with Hit the Gas. His upcoming slate at Original Film is brimming with exciting projects, including Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Afterburn, featuring powerhouse talents Dave Bautista and Samuel L. Jackson.
