After a successful run spanning 46 episodes across two seasons, Nickelodeon’s buddy comedy That Girl Lay Lay is set to wrap up with its current second season.
A Nickelodeon spokesperson confirmed the news, expressing gratitude to the cast and crew for their invaluable contributions to the show’s production.
Created and led by David A. Arnold, “That Girl Lay Lay” revolves around the adventures of the titular character, portrayed by teen hip-hop artist Alaya “That Girl Lay Lay” High, and her best friend Sadie, played by Gabrielle Nevaeh Green.
The series follows Lay Lay, an avatar from a personal affirmation app, who magically comes to life, embarking on a journey of self-discovery alongside Sadie.
In Season 2, Lay Lay and Sadie dive into more thrilling escapades, exploring Lay Lay’s quest to embrace the experiences of being a real teenager. The show also features Peyton Perrine III as Sadie’s brother, Marky; Tiffany Daniels as Sadie’s mom, Trish; and Thomas Hobson as Sadie’s dad, Bryce.
Produced by Will Packer Media, the series is executive produced by Will Packer and Peggy Cheng, with Arnold, John Beck, and Ron Hart also serving as executive producers.
Nickelodeon executives Zack Olin and Shauna Phelan oversee production, while Jessica Brown is the network’s Executive in Charge of Production for the series.
That Girl Lay Lay marked the first project under Nickelodeon’s agreement with the talented hip-hop artist, extending beyond the comedy series to support her music career and develop an exclusive line of consumer products.
