A surprising source has revealed Mario’s look from the upcoming Super Mario Bros. animated film online.
A McDonald’s employee posted a picture of Chris Pratt’s Mario on a Discord server based on a screenshot that YouTuber ConnorEatsPants provided on Twitter. The plumber is shown in the image in a way that has never before been seen in a Nintendo game, which has led many to believe that the design is from the upcoming Super Mario Bros. film from Illumination. The plumber looks just like he does in the 3D video games, but in the movie, his features appear to be more proportionate to the rest of his body.
The nature of the shared document is currently unknown but many suspect that it’s from a collaborative promotion between Mcdonald’s and Nintendo. The image was released just one day ahead of a special Nintendo Direct for the Super Mario Bros. movie. A poster that was unveiled in early October 2022 teased the news that the presentation will include the film’s first official trailer. Mario is depicted in the promotional art, but his face is veiled as he surveys the Mushroom Kingdom.

With some of the most recognisable characters in the video game industry, Super Mario Bros. is anticipated to convey a unique story. The movie has an all-star ensemble that includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, and Keegan-Michael Key, yet the plot’s contents are mainly unknown.
Many fans were upset with Pratt’s selection, considering it to be disrespectful to veteran voice actor Charles Martinet, who has been voicing Mario in video games since 1992. Chris Meledandri, the founder and CEO of Illumination, praised Pratt’s performance in reaction to the criticism, expressing his admiration for the actor’s interpretation.
