The Evil Dead franchise returns to theaters next year with Evil Dead Rise.
Director Lee Cronin tweeted a new and a very gory behind-the-scenes photo from the set, adding that it was taken around a year ago. Evil Dead Rise is set to get “messy!” as predicted!
The official synopsis for the movie says, “In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.”
Along with Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, and Nell Fisher will star in the new film.
The movie is being produced by Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Robert Tapert. According to Campbell, the three have been engaged with the project at every stage.
Evil Dead Rise will release on April 21, 2023.
