Jonathan Majors Receives Counseling in Domestic Assault Case

Following his conviction last year for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, Jonathan Majors has been sentenced to one year of domestic violence counseling.

The actor, known for his roles in various films and TV shows, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe, must undergo a 52-week, in-person domestic violence program in Los Angeles, where he currently resides.

The counseling may incorporate virtual sessions in the future, but Majors must also continue his ongoing mental health therapy and provide updates on his progress. Additionally, a permanent order of protection has been issued against Majors, prohibiting any contact with Jabbari. Violations could result in jail time.

The sentencing was handed down by Judge Michael Gaffey in a Manhattan courtroom, almost four months after Majors was found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault against Jabbari.

Despite his absence of prior criminal history, Majors faced the possibility of a year in prison. Jabbari, in her victim impact statement, expressed concern about Majors’ lack of remorse and accountability, stating her intention to ensure the safety of others.

Jabbari, who sued Majors for assault and defamation, accused him of multiple instances of assault prior to the March 2023 incident. Majors, however, has denied the allegations. His legal team argued that Jabbari was the aggressor, a claim Jabbari vehemently refuted during her statement in court.

This legal saga has already taken a toll on Majors’ career, resulting in his dismissal from major projects and severed ties with management and publicity firms. While Majors remains hopeful for a return to the film industry, the consequences of his actions have cast a shadow over his future prospects.
