Jon Hamm led series ‘Grimsburg’ second season picked up by Fox

A second season of the animated comedy Grimsburg, in which Jon Hamm plays a down on his luck detective, has been picked up by Fox network. The show, which the network ordered a year ago and is being produced internally by Fox Entertainment and the animation company Bento Box, scheduled to debut in 2023.

“Grimsburg is yet another clear example of our strong commitment to, and intense focus on, upholding the high bar of standards any show must exceed in order to reside under the Animation Domination banner,” Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn said in a statement to Variety. “Of course, having Jon Hamm’s talent and star power front and center is a great place to start. Everything we’re seeing with Grimsburg from the very first scripts and show bible to animatics and preliminary cuts makes us believe we have a winner on our hands that beautifully complements our animation brand.

As the “best detective ever to catch a cannibal clown or accurately identify a mid-century modern armoire,” Hamm plays Marvin Flute in Grimsburg. He returns to Grimsburg, where everyone has secrets, in order to solve his own mystery because it is the one mystery he hasn’t solved yet. There, he searches for forgiveness among his fellow detectives, his ex wife, and his kid.

The sitcom was conceived by Matthew Schlissel and Catlan McClelland, who also serve as co-executive producers. Showrunner and executive producer Chadd Gindlin collaborate with Hamm, The Jackal Group’s Gail Berman, Hend Baghdady, and Connie Tavel.
