Benoit Blanc, the master detective played by Daniel Craig in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, is back in the first trailer released by Netflix.
Johnson first revealed there would be a Knives Out sequel in 2020, with Craig returning to the lead role and Lionsgate serving as the production company once more. In March 2021, Netflix formally joined the project by spending $469 million to acquire the rights to two sequels. A $40 million reported budget was used to film Glass Onion on the Greek island of Spetses in the summer of 2021, with further filming outside of Greece wrapping up in September of the same year.
In June 2022, Johnson revealed the official title for the movie and said it would not be identical to Knives Out but rather have “its own tone, ambition, purpose for existence, and (ta dah) title.”
The Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery trailer appeared on Netflix. It is the follow up to writer director Rian Johnson’s 2019 thriller Knives Out. After spending most of the last movie cooped up in a mansion in Massachusetts, Blanc will have a welcome change of scenery in the upcoming stand-alone sequel when he solves a new case in Greece.
The official logline for Glass Onion reads, “Tech millionaire Miles Bron, as he invites his friends for a trip on his private Greek island. When someone turns up dead, Detective Benoit Blanc is put on the case.” Johnson also posted a new poster for Glass Onion along with the teaser.
The movie is expected to hit the theatres by the end of this year, on December 23, 2022. For now enjoy the trailer released by Netflix
