English Actress Sylvia Syms Dies at 89

Sylvia Syms star of “The Queen” and “Victim” Passes Away at 89 in UK.

The Tamarind Seed, Ice Cold Alex, Victim, and Stephen Frears’ The Queen, in which Syms played the Queen Mother, are some of the films for which she is best remembered.

This morning, Syms passed away at Denville Hall, a London care facility for persons working in the entertainment sector. Syms’ family said in a statement provided to The Sun that she had had a fantastic life. And had brought them joy and happiness all the way to the end. We were talking about all of our escapades just yesterday. She will be so very missed.

“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Denville Hall for the truly excellent care they have taken of our Mum over the past year.”

Sylvia Syms played the Queen Mother in the UK smash The Queen. For which Helen Mirren received an Oscar, from 2000 to 2003. She also starred in the ITV sitcom At Home With The Braithwaites. Her most recent appearance was as Mrs. Rawson in the BBC historical drama Gentleman Jack in 2019.
