Elon Musk jettisoned several of Twitter’s top attorneys

Elon Musk after taking over Twitter got rid of top attorneys from the company.

Vijaya Gadde, the former head of legal affairs for the company, caught the attention of the right-wing venom after appearing on Joe Rogan’s podcast and trying to explain the site’s hateful conduct policy. One of Musk’s first actions after taking over was to fire her.

She rose to prominence as Twitter’s “chief censor” very quickly. It’s hardly surprising she was fired, despite the irony that she had throughout the years played a significant role in shielding the site’s content from court subpoenas.

After Gadde, Alex Spiro, a Quinn Emanuel lawyer who has known Musk for quite a long time and served as the de facto legal leader, left his position last week. Spiro’s mistake was that he did not remove James A. Baker from his position as Twitter’s deputy general counsel ignoring Baker’s questionable past as the person in charge of the F.B.I.’s investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia.

As a result, Spiro and Baker were also removed from the company. It’s astonishing that Twitter doesn’t currently have a full-time employee to handle these cascading legal eruptions, even though Musk has apparently recently received assistance from SpaceX lawyers.
