In the 2018 film Avengers: Infinity War, Elizabeth Olsen admitted that she was humiliated while filming the scene where Vision dies.
Olsen, who portrays Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, admitted in an interview with Variety that filming scenes with a lot of special effects, such as Vision’s death scene, was “embarrassing.” But Olsen (Avengers: Infinity War) felt more at ease when forced to improvise because her scene companion was the Vision actor Paul Bettany.
“It’s very embarrassing shooting those kinds of things, because, like, the world depends on you doing it. And we did some improvising, which is hard to improvise those moments,” Olsen said.
“But it also felt good, because at that point, Paul and I really had each other’s back,” she added. “It was one of the last things we shot. I felt really comfortable with him as an actor if we had to improvise that beat a little bit. We were trying to find it, with guiding us. And then, once it was over, it was a huge amount of relief. And I just remember being giggly the rest of the day, while Brolin had his helmet on. And I don’t know. These movies are very silly, but you have to act your ass off for them to work.”

The MCU star continued to elaborate, saying that part of what made filming Vision’s demise so difficult was the fact that most of the significant set pieces and VFX for the scene were created in post-production. “One of your hands is extended and using energy to halt the object. After that, another hand is pulling this false item from this dotty face. And it hurts and makes you feel bad ” She said.
Olsen said that, particularly in the heat of Atlanta, Georgia, Bettany’s Vision makeup and attire didn’t do them any favors. Olsen claimed that Bettany was not only covered in purple but also a layer of glitter, making touching and kissing a messy affair. Bettany’s Vision makeup and costume may have also contributed to Olsen’s humiliation.
