Disney+’s Original Hocus Pocus 2 is a seasonal favourite. According to the hours streamed in the first three days after its release, Hocus Pocus 2, the follow-up to the 1993 film Hocus Pocus, is Disney+’s most watched domestic film premiere to date.
The total number of hours streamed was not made public. Critics have had a mixed reaction to the movie; many have claimed that it primarily serves as nostalgic fan service for viewers of the first film. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has a 62% favorable rating, which is on the low end of “fresh.” The film’s critics’ consensus on the review aggregator reads, “It is basically a boiling cauldron of nostalgia, but that’s just enough for this belated sequel to cast a reasonably effective spell.”

In his review of the movie, Patrick Cavanaugh of ComicBook.com scored Hocus Pocus 2 a 3 out of 5. He claims, “Even so, everyone involved in honouring the idea approached this sequel from a place of love, and it’s a joy to get to see these characters receive long-overdue praise. The original Hocus Pocus script evolved over the course of a decade before the film finally landed in theatres, only to get stomped into oblivion upon official release. Midler, Parker, and Najimy are obviously thrilled to be back, and supporting players are also giving the bad guys a run for their money. Any adventure starring the Sanderson sisters will charm many viewers, but others will realise we’ve been given trickery presented as gifts.”

He added , “It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.”
