Bravo has decided to pause Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard after two seasons, much to the disappointment of its dedicated fanbase. This reality series, which follows a group of young Black professionals vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard, has not been cancelled. However, the network has not greenlit a third season for this year, according to Deadline.
The second season concluded on May 26 with a reunion special hosted by Andy Cohen. The cast members, including Nicholas “Nick” Arrington, Jasmine Ellis Cooper, Jordan Emanuel, and Bria Fleming, were eager for the reunion to resolve the ongoing drama. Bravo brought them together at the Watch What Happens Live! clubhouse for this purpose.
Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard is a spinoff of the original Summer House, which features New York City professionals renting a Hamptons house for weekend parties. The Martha’s Vineyard edition adds a unique cultural twist, set on one of the first beach destinations where African Americans could vacation and purchase property.
This isn’t the only Bravo show facing a pause. Winter House, another spinoff featuring Bravolebrities from shows like Summer House, Vanderpump Rules, and Below Deck, will not shoot a fourth season. Similarly, Vanderpump Rules hit the brakes on Season 12 following the infamous “Scandoval,” leaving its future uncertain.
A pause doesn’t always signal the end. The Real Housewives of Miami experienced an extended hiatus after three seasons on Bravo, starting in 2013. Peacock resurrected the show in 2021, and it later returned to Bravo for Season 6.
Meanwhile, Summer House, the original series, has been renewed for Season 9, with its current Season 8 seeing record viewership. Fans of Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard can only hope for a similar revival in the future.
Stay tuned for updates on this and other Bravo reality series.
